Hanon Lamar Lovett, 89, of Laurel died Monday, August 6, 2012 at Laurelwood Nursing Home in Laurel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Memory Chapel with burial to follow at Lake Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery in Jones County. Rev. Mack Harrison and Rev. Gary Walters will officiate.
Mr. Lovett was retired from Wayne Farms where he worked as a night watchman and was a member of Charity Freewill Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, especially his garden, and he loved his family, church and friends. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Nicholson Lovett; 2nd wife, Vernelle Lovett; two brothers, R. B. and Jimmy Lovett and great grandson, Brent Oswalt.
Survivors include four daughters, Faye West and husband Don, Johnnie Lee Oswalt and husband David and Kathy Whatley and husband Olen all of Laurel and June O. Clark and husband Jake of Ovett; eight grandchildren, Davy and Danny Oswalt, Shannon Lindsey, Chris Whatley, Angie Oswalt Phillips, Whitney, Jordan and Jeremy Clark; five great grandchildren, Ryan Phillips, Chris Oswalt, Alex Lindsey, Taylor and Sclakate Whatley and Seth Clark; one brother, Joe Lovett and wife Janice of Laurel; three sisters, Ester Deas and husband Lee of Jacksonville, FL, Bonnie Keith and husband Leo of Laurel and Jessie Beech and husband Glenn of Ovett; and his special pets, Kate the mule and Bob the cat.
Pallbearers will be Alex Lindsey, Chris Whatley, Ryan Phillips, Davy Oswalt, Danny Oswalt, Jordan Clark and Jeremy Clark.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 pm Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Memory Chapel of Laurel which is in charge of the arrangements.
