James Donnell McCraw, 76, of Vancleave, formerly of Laurel, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at River Chase Village Nursing Home.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.
He was the son of the late Lela Mae and J. D. McCraw of Laurel. He was a retired Captain of the Laurel Fire Department where he served twenty years. He also worked at the Jones County Community Hospital, served in the Air Force, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 503 and the Oddfellows. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Vancleave.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Karen Denise McCraw.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen West McCraw of Vancleave; two sons, Steven McCraw (Amber) of Vancleave, and Joseph Ishee of Vancleave; four daughters, Brenda West (Ray) of Vancleave, Glenda Lightsey of Winnfield, LA, Melissa Brooks of Vancleave, and Belinda Ingram (David) of Ovett; grandsons, Christopher West, Brad West, and Jason West all of Vancleave, Ryan Lightsey of Savannah, GA, Steven Randal McCraw of Vancleave, Tristen Patterson of Ovett, and Lee Ishee, and Andrew Ishee of Laurel; granddaughters, Kristi West, Vanessa Brooks, Chelsea Brooks, and Karen McCraw of Vancleave, Jessica Kuchinski and Kelly Ingram of Ovett; and eight great grandsons and three great granddaughters.
Pallbearers will be men of the Laurel Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Butler, David Chance, Ralph Kenny, David Hinton, Donald Rogers, James Jennings, and Ronnie Thompson.
