Cynthia K. Morris Hill

Cynthia K. Morris Hill, “Cindy,” a Special Education Teacher and long-time resident of Laurel, MS, passed on March 4, 2020 at the age of 59. Cindy is preceded in death by her father, William Mack Morris, Jr.; her paternal grandparents, Ora and William Mack Morris Sr.; her maternal grandparents Henry and Louisa Williamson; her brother in law, James Hill and wife Sarah; her sister in law, Carolyn Hill Sharplin and husband Javis; and brother in law Danny Hill. She is survived by her husband, Howard Ladell Hill; her daughter, Madison Hill; her mother, Edna Morris; her sister, Cathy Patton; her nephews, Chris Patton (Jessica) and Kevin Patton (Abby); and a host of extended family and friends. Cindy was born in Natchez, MS on March 26, 1960 to William and Edna Morris. She graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1984 with a degree in Interior Design and Art and she went on to be certified to teach Art, Home Economics, and Culinary Arts. Cindy worked as the Recreation Supervisor at Ellisville State School for 18 years, taught Culinary Arts at Laurel High School for 4 years, while teaching at Laurel, she fell in love with the Special Needs students and got certified to teach Special Education. She taught the Special Needs Life Skills class at West Jones High School for 9 years. On August 8, 1992, she married Howard Ladell Hill and four years later, on October 3, 1996, they welcomed their daughter Madison Alexandra. Cindy was a devoted mother and a faithful friend. Teaching special needs students was truly her passion and she considered her students her own children. She enjoyed attending and participating in church activities at Salem Heights Baptist Church, including teaching Arts and Crafts in Vacation Bible School each summer. During football season, you could find her cheering on the Mustangs at a tailgate with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at Salem Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with service to follow.
