Dominick Joseph White

Dominick Joseph White, beloved son, father, and husband, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2017. Don was born to Rose Ciaccio and Clayton William White on November 30, 1930, in New Orleans, LA, where he lived most of his life before retiring to Laurel, MS, where he lived with his wife of 30 years, Sue Todd White. He graduated from St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, MS, and then Loyola University with degrees in Pharmacy. After proudly serving in the Army, he worked with his father as a pharmacist in the family’s Pelican Pharmacy. In 1964, he began working with Abbott Laboratories as a district manager and moved his family to Shreveport, LA. In his spare time, he loved doing carpentry work and traveling. After retiring, he lived in Laurel, MS with his wife, and started several small businesses, including Magnolia Oaks Bed and Breakfast, The Secret Garden Tea Room and Premier Properties and Real Estate. He missed his true calling so also went back to work part time at South Central Regional Medical Center. He will always be remembered as a true Southern Gentleman and also by many for his sweet spirit, kind heart and beautiful smile. He will be greatly missed. Dominick loved theatre and was active in the Little Theater in Oshkosh, WI and here in Laurel. He played numerous roles in these theatres, including “the Secret Garden”, “Little Women”, “Quilt”, “Always Patsy Cline”, “Harvey”, “The Nutcracker”, “You Can’t Take It with You”, “Our Town”, and many others. He also was active in fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and scholarships for youth at Life Church. Don is predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Patricia Ann Abadie, his grandson Christopher Dominick Pratt, and his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Sue Todd White, her 3 children, Joey Stewart, Joy Stewart and Todd Bassett; his children, Debra Ann White, Shreveport, LA, Clayton John White, wife Nancy, New Orleans, LA, Holle White Greene, husband Stephen, Dallas, TX, Christopher Phillip White, wife Kim, Dallas, TX and Gregory Stephen White and Andie Lopata, New Orleans, LA. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his loving, mischievous cousin, Joanna Sanders, a large family and many friends. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Veterans Home in Collins, Mississippi for taking such good, gentle care of Don during his final days. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, March 10, 2017 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Memory Chapel at 3100 Audubon Drive in Laurel with funeral services at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11 2017 at Memory Chapel. The Reverend David Hagan will officiate. A memorial service and interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans, LA on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
