Jimmie Bradford Kimbrough

Jimmie Bradford Kimbrough passed away on June 27, 2017 at the Veterans Home in Collins, MS. He was born on February 15, 1928 in Winston County. He moved to Laurel with his family at an early age. After graduation, he attended Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS and was always a fan of State and loved those “Bulldogs”. Jimmie served four years in the U. S. Air Force. After completing his education, he worked in Houston, Texas for seven years in an oil related industry. He was employed as Office Manager and Dispatch Supervisor for Southland Oilfield Company in Sandersville, where he retired after 26 years. Jimmie was also an active poultry grower and raised broilers for Sanderson Farms for over 30 years. He was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church for 30+ years. He was recently a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church until failing health became an issue for his attendance. Jimmie loved the Lord and kept him close to his heart with daily bible reading and prayer. He loved his family and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Irene McMillan Kimbrough and parents, Archie M. Kimbrough and Alice Ruth Bradford Kimbrough. He is survived by his wife, Carol Jean Beckman Kimbrough; daughter, Blinda McCarthy (Pat) of Laurel; son, Brad Kimbrough (Beverly) of Moultrie, Georgia; stepson, Bill Beckman (Mary Lou) of Tupelo, MS; and stepdaughters, Diana Beckman Arledge (Mickey) and Kristen Hancock of Laurel. Grandchildren are Lacy Sullins (Roy) of Laurel, Melanie Pickering (Casey) of Laurel, Melissa Keyes of Abbeville, LA, Courtney Cantrell (Sidney) of Doerun, GA, and Hunter Kimbrough of Moultrie, GA. Step grandchildren are Trey Beckman of Tupelo, Leigh Beckman of Starkville, Alex Arledge of Hattiesburg, Kade Hancock of Laurel, and Gage Hancock of Laurel. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of the Veterans Home in Collins for their compassionate and loving care of Jimmie during his final days. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Laurel with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
