Maronda Lynn Moore Johnson, 70, of Laurel, Mississippi passed away at South Central Regional Medical Center, Laurel, Mississippi on Monday, July 10, 2023. Nana as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren was born June 5, 1953 in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Betty Grace Thornton Moore & the late Rev. Doyle Levoy Moore. She was a graduate of North Forrest High School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Mississippi University for Women “The W,” Columbus, Mississippi. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her love and compassion were both, true and from the heart. She had a smile that was contagious and calmed many storms over the course of her life. She and Ricky loved to travel together and enjoyed life to the fullest. She had a passion for her career in the medical field as a medical record coding specialist and Director of Medical Records at several medical facilities across the country. Later in her career she enjoyed traveling to varies medical facilities as a medical record consultant. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Doyle Levoy Moore, brother, Randall Levoy "Randy" Moore, a sister, Jackie Dale Moore Shell, her nephew, William Corey Vaughan, grandparents, Jack and Myrtle Thornton, Cleveland and Luna Kay Moore, father and mother -in-law, Charles Emmon “Cecil” and Mary Grace Welborn Johnson, brother-in-law, Lester Grayson Johnson, great-niece, Adley Ryale Johnson. She is survived by her mother, Betty Grace Thornton Moore of Laurel, Mississippi; her loving, caring, and devoted husband of 51 years, Charles Ricky Johnson of Laurel, Mississippi; Her greatest personal achievement was being a mother to her three sons that she loved and adored. It gave her great joy to encourage each of her sons to be kind, loving and work hard to achieve their goals in life. Chief Master Sergeant Roby Michael Johnson, United States Air Force of South Korea & Tucson, Arizona; Jesse Shaun Johnson, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Adrian Christian “AJ” Johnson and wife, Amanda Reed Johnson of Laurel, Mississippi; and grandsons, Nathan Felicano Johnson, of South Korea & Tucson, Arizona; Christian Taylor Johnson, Joseph Edward Troutman, Adison Shane Johnson & Tyler Cole Johnson of Laurel, Mississippi; two sisters, Pamela Kay “Pam” Grimsley (Keith) of Philadelphia, Mississippi, Tammy Joy Moore of Gautier, Mississippi; two brothers-in-law, Bruce Johnson and Robby Johnson of Laurel, Mississippi; numerous other relatives. The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Christopher Mauldin and his staff for the care they gave her over the years and to Dr. Joel Shores, nurse Erica and all other medical staff at South Central Regional Medical Center for their kind and compassionate care. Maronda Lynn gave in death as she gave in life; she was an organ and tissue donor. Maronda Lynn’s final act of kindness and love was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. Maronda Lynn donated to save a life or give someone a better quality of life and bring smiles and hope to others through organ donation.
