Carl Cecil Reynolds

Mr. Carl Cecil Reynolds, 91, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in North Augusta, South Carolina. Carl was born in Laurel, Mississippi on January 8, 1924, and was the loving husband to Grace Reynolds for over 72 years, admired and adored by his sons, their wives and all his grandchildren. Carl served with honor during WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the 8th Army Air Corps. He flew 25 missions in a B-24 over North Africa and Europe. After the war, he returned to Laurel and began a career with United Gas Company. After 40 years, he retired from the company as Laurel District Manager. Carl enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing with friends, sons and grandkids. In 1999, he enjoyed one of the highlights of his life when he played golf at the Augusta National Club in Augusta, GA as a guest of his newest grandson-in-law. All his life Carl was active in the Methodist church. In his youth he was a member at West Laurel Methodist Church in Laurel, MS. Carl and Grace also served together as youth leaders at Burton Memorial Methodist Church in Gulfport, MS, greatly impacting the lives of many young people. In 2001, Carl and Grace moved, joining their sons and their families in North Augusta, SC. There they joined Grace United Methodist Church and became members of the Stillwell Sunday School Class. Carl was preceded in death by his parents John and Cora Reynolds; three brothers, Clint Reynolds, Paul Reynolds, and Earl Reynolds; and two sisters, Gertrude Robinson and Thelma Pearson. He is survived by his devoted wife, Grace Reynolds of North Augusta, SC; sons Aubrey (Linda) Reynolds of North Augusta, SC, Mike (Susan) Reynolds of North Augusta, SC, and Mark (Wanda) Reynolds of Caledonia, MS; grandchildren, John (Lisa) Reynolds of Caryville, FL, Brian (Jennifer) Reynolds of Greenville, SC, Amanda (Bryon) Arganbright of Huntersville, NC, Shelly (Jon) Buffett of Ridgeland, SC, Amy (Michael) Parks of Fort Mill, SC, Julie (Taylor) Unger of Tampa, FL, Brad Reynolds of Ellisville, MS, Chase (Whitney) Reynolds of Starkville, MS, Corey (Lauren) Reynolds of Columbus, MS, Kaleigh Reynolds of Caledonia, MS; great grandchildren, Darus (Danielle) Steverson of Slocomb, AL, Dalon Reynolds of Caryville, FL, Trenton Bowers of Caryville, FL, Cassidy Taylor of Caryville, FL, Riley Reynolds of Stringer, MS, Taylor Buffett of Ridgeland, SC, Katelyn Buffett of Ridgeland, SC, Savannah Buffett of Ridgeland, SC, Will Parks of Fort Mill, SC, Helen Parks of Fort Mill, SC, Addison Reynolds of Columbus, MS, Emma Reynolds of Columbus, MS; and one great great grandchild, Maddox Steverson of Slocomb, AL. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church Mortgage Fund, 639 Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC 29841. The family will receive friends at Memory Chapel in Laurel, MS from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM on Sunday November 8th. A memorial service, led by Rev. Lamar Massingill, will be held at Memory Chapel at 2:30 PM on Sunday afternoon. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Lake Park Hills Cemetery immediately after the service.
