Dr. Cecil Theodore Williams, Jr.

Dr. Cecil Theodore Williams, Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24th at the age of 81. Born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi, Dr. Williams graduated from George S. Gardner High School in 1952. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he received a degree in Geology. He went to work for Continental Oil Company before receiving a special calling to become a physician. Dr. Williams entered medical school and received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi. After specializing in cardiology, Dr. Williams returned to his hometown of Laurel where he practiced cardiology for over 25 years. He was a dedicated husband, father and friend and impacted many lives throughout his medical career. He was known to his colleagues, nurses and patients as a compassionate, caring physician. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Laurel, MS and his favorite past time was cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels. He loved spending time with his family and friends and his contagious smile and kindness will be missed and remembered by all who knew him. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Dr. Randy Turner will officiate. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil T. Williams, Sr. and Leah Anderson Williams; and one son, Brian Williams. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patsy Williams of Flowood; son, Dr. Stuart Williams (John Hopkins) of Black Mountain, NC; three daughters, Sherry Lowe of Nashville, TN, Robin Tkatch of High Point, NC, and Amy Marler and husband, John of Brandon; daughter-in-law, Marion Williams of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Whitney Gregory, Lindsey Lowe, Tyler Lowe, Gray Williams, Eva Claire Williams, Ashley Tkatch, Alexa Tkatch, Bella Tkatch, Lauren Marler, Laine Marler, and Ramsay Williams; great grandchild, Gage Gregory; and brother, Jim Williams and his wife, Victoria of High Point, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231.
