Darryl Wayne Geddie

Darryl Wayne Geddie, 69, of the Shady Grove Community, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024. A lifelong resident of the area, Darryl was known for his devotion to family, his unwavering faith, and his commitment to his community. Born on May 2, 1955, Darryl was a proud graduate of Jones County Junior College, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree in Animal Science. Throughout his life, Darryl's love for animals and the outdoors was evident, both in his personal interests and his work. After spending twenty-eight years working in the poultry industry, Darryl retired from Peco Foods in 2020. In retirement, he turned his passion into a business, founding DG’s Kennels, where he trained Labradors for duck hunting and field trials. Darryl was also a devoted member of the First Baptist Church Shady Grove, where he served as the song director and assistant treasurer. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he was dedicated to serving the Lord and his church community. Above all, Darryl was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family meant the world to him, and he cherished the time spent with them. His kindness, generosity, and easygoing nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was a true friend to many and will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Donnie Geddie. Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-four years, Deborah Reeves Geddie; his son, Christopher Geddie and wife Chelsea; step-daughter, Delaine Lott and husband Chris; step-son, Dean Saul; grandchildren, Luke Geddie, Sophie Kate Geddie, Ethan Lott, and Eli Lott. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 2, 2025 at First Baptist Church Shady Grove, Laurel, MS with Brother Chris Sledge officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 12:00- 2:00 p.m.for visitation with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons, Luke Geddie, Ethan Lott, Eli Lott; nephews, Jason Braud, Darren Johnson, and Drew Johnson.
