Donald "Donnie" Edward Satcher

Donald “Donnie” Edward Satcher, age 78, of Heidelberg, Mississippi, passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024. He was born on March 2nd, 1946 in Heidelberg, Mississippi, to the late P.E. Satcher and Louise Satcher. Donnie graduated from Heidelberg High School in 1964 where he was a standout athlete in football and baseball. A dedicated and highly-respected employee, he retired from Tennessee Gas Pipeline/El Paso Energy as a Lead Operations Technician with over forty-three years of service. During his time there he forged lifelong friendships with his fellow coworkers. Over the years he exhibited his craftmanship with woodworking and refurbishing antiques while using his talents to create beautiful pieces. It was always evident he did so with the utmost perfection. He and his wife Jennie displayed their works at many craft shows all across the South. He also enjoyed attending flea markets and collecting tools. His love of the Smoky Mountains was exhibited by his many vacations to the area with his wife and family. Donnie had a very special place in his heart for his church, Heidelberg Presbyterian Church and his church family. He was a faithful servant to his Lord. He was a Deacon for over fifty years where he oversaw the fiscal responsibilities and continued support of the church and its congregation. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, P.E. and Louise Satcher, and brother, Richard “Rick” Satcher. He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty years, Jennifer “Jennie” Satcher; son, Tony Satcher; daughter, Donna (Todd) Smith; and son, Craig Satcher; grandchildren, Hannah (Ben) Bohannon and Haden Smith; sister, Shirley (Donald) Gatlin; brother, George (Jaymie) Satcher, and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Heidelberg Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Hugh Acton will officiate. Pallbearers will be Haden Smith, Todd Smith, Kerry Welch Sr., Timmy Gatlin, Ben Bohannon, and Chris Balaski. Honorary pallbearers will be Carrol Windham, Jeff Windham, Jimmy Satcher, John Newt Satcher, Doug Satcher, and The Officers of Heidelberg Presbyterian Church.
