Mr. Earl G. West, Jr., 78, of Laurel, MS, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at home with family. Arrangements are made at Memory Chapel of Laurel, MS. Visitation is Monday, March 2, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. Services at Memory Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, With Rev. Jimmy Holder officiating. He graduated from Glade High School in 1955 and was a member of Glade Baptist Church. He retired as President of Industrial Services of Laurel, which he founded in 1993. Retired from Masonite Corp. 1979-1992, where he was Relief Maintenance Forman, Store Room Supervisor, and Purchasing agent. In 1975 he opened and ran an Auto Repair Shop on Hwy 84 East. Joined the United States Navy in 1955, his service was as follows: Aviation Mechanic, Naval Air Facility, Opama, Japan. 1955-1957 Maintenance Supervisor, Naval Air Station, Whiting field, FL 1957-1959 Assistant Supervisor in charge of night crew, power plants division 1960-1963 Served aboard the USS Forrestal Assistant Line supervisor, collateral duty systems inspector, check crew leader, outing field trouble shooter, quality control Inspection on T-343 aircraft, naval Air Station, Saulfey Field, Pensacola, FL. 1963-1967 Search and Rescue Supervisor, aircraft line Supervisor, Maint. Supervisor and Air Terminal Supervisor, San Nicolas Island, Point Mugu, CA 1967-1970 Senior Search and Rescue Supervisor, Maintenance crew assignment and Training, Quality Assurance Representative, Technical Library Supervisor, Maint. Safety Inspector, Maint Work Center Supervisor, Naval Air Station, Meridian, MS 1970-1975 Throughout his many years of loyal and faithful service to our country, he had won the respect and esteem of his shipmates for his personal integrity, conduct, and insistence on high standards of performance. He received the following medals: Good Conduct Service Medal (5 awards) and National Defense Service Medal. Retired as Chief Petty Officer in 1975 He was preceded in death by his Wife of 49 years, Billie E. Mayo. Parents, Earl G. West Sr. and Katreena Cook. One Grandson, Joshua B. Landrum. Survived by Sister, Minnie Jean Holder of Conroe, TX. Three daughters, Teresa Walters (Lannis), Tinita Taylor (Kyle), and Deidra Langley. Grandchildren, Nikki Walters Watkins (Chad), Travis Walters (Lauren), Chase Taylor, Cody Taylor, Amanda Landrum Pruitt (Anthony), Karley Landrum. Great Grandchildren, Alexia Watkins, Emma Kate Watkins, Connor Watkins, Chloe Pruitt, Drake Jordan, Jada Jordan. Along with numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be: Grandsons: Travis Walters, Chase Taylor, Cody Taylor and Chad Watkins. Nephews: Howard Holder and Joey Holder.
