Elaine Ford Eaton

Elaine Ford Eaton, of Taylorsville, died peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday evening, December 4, 2011. She was born on April 28, 1916 to Elvie Carr and Emmett Howard Ford. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Taylorsville. Rev. Frankie Clark and Rev. Eric Estus will officiate. Mrs. Eaton graduated from Taylorsville High School at fifteen and graduated from MSCW in 1936 with a double major in English and history. She taught at Taylorsville High School for many years. In addition, she was an active member of First Baptist Church of Taylorsville, singing in the choir, involved in the WMU and teaching for many years the Euzellian Sunday School Class. Mrs. Eaton was an active historian, and a vital member of the Unobee Chapter of the DAR, serving as Regent and as Registrar. She was also a member of the Smith County Genealogical Society. Mrs. Eaton was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty years, Blaine Haskin Eaton. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Emmett Howard Eaton and Staff Sargent Mark Haskin Eaton. She is survived by three daughters, Suzanne Jordan (Don), Sally Wooten (Ray), and Ellie McMorris (Ron); and one daughter-in-law, Jimmie King Eaton. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Lisa McMahon (Hal), Katie Herrington (Bob), Blaine “Bo” Eaton (Susanne), Todd Jordan (Shannon), Eric Jordan (Dena), Lori Pippin (Ernie), Lee Jordan (Tina), David Eaton (Suzi), Sarah Jones, John Grady McMorris, Carr Eaton McMorris, and Mark Eaton Wooten; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Eaton will be most remembered for her strong love of family. Her grandsons, Todd Jordan, Blaine “Bo” Eaton, Eric Jordan, Lee Jordan, David Eaton, John Grady McMorris, Mark Eaton Wooten, and Carr Eaton McMorris will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to Clear Creek Cemetery, 1286 SCR 1, Taylorsville, MS 39168 or First Baptist Church, P O Box 357, Taylorsville, MS 39168. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 5:30 until 8 pm at First Baptist Church, Taylorsville. Memory Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
