Elladean Miles Harrell

Elladean Miles Harrell passed away at Forrest General Hospital Inpatient Hospice, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on Tuesday, February 23/2016. She was born to George W. and Mamie Miles on February 7, 1935 in Laurel, Mississippi. She married Billy W. Harrell on August 24, 1954. They were married for 62 years and lovingly raised 3 children. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 28, 2016, from 3 until 6 p.m. at Iglesia El Faro Church, 544 E. 1st Street, Laurel. Funeral services will be at Mt. Vernon Methodist Church, 839 Hwy 15 S, Laurel on Monday at 3 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Rev. Davy Fenton, Rev. Jimmy Holder, and Rev. Rafael Anderson will officiate. Mrs. Harrell and her husband served with World Gospel Mission as missionaries in Honduras, Central America for 24 years. Mrs. Harrell ministered in various capacities including Bible Institute treasurer, assisted with the orchid/violet flower project, and served as mission hostess. She also established a camping and youth/children’s ministry for the children of missionaries in Honduras, directed a radio program, and was field mission treasurer. She helped plan and direct the itineraries of visiting medical/dental teams. She was a major promoter of getting a new ministry started on the island of Roatan. Upon return to the United States, she spent 15 years as World Gospel Mission’s South Central Regional Director, scheduling speaking engagements for missionaries on deputation across the southeastern United States. In all, she served 40 years with World Gospel Mission. Mrs. Harrell loved to cook for her family and friends and always cooked “extra.” Gifted with a beautiful voice, she frequently sang in churches in Honduras and throughout their ministry. She dearly loved her family and was proud of all their accomplishments. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Alice Walters, Lee Miles, Katie Pippin, George B. Miles, and Viola Miles De Groot. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Billy Harrell of Laurel; son, Dan Harrell (Jennie) of Demorest, GA; two daughters, Wanda Harrell Cooksey (Jim) of Ellisville and Brenda Harrell of Laurel; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and one sister, Frema Hodge Bates of Ellisville. Pallbearers will be Chris Harrell, Ben Harrell, Mark Harrell, Terry Miles, Richard Thompson, and Jerry Hodge. Honorary pallbearers will be Manuel Cobaxin, Maredo Cobaxin, Juan Hernandez, Nicolas Tolentino, Carlos Gutierrez, Joel Hernandez,David Hodge, Mike Hodge, Jimmy Hodge, Lee Walters and Greg Miles.
