James Curtis Bradford

James C. Bradford , 93, of Laurel, MS, passed peacefully away on March 20, 2024 just a month shy of his 94th birthday in LaGrange, GA. A family man and churchgoer, Jim was active in his community. He had a passion for fishing and golfing. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Bradford Martin (David) of LaGrange, GA, son Mark Bradford (Judy) of Gulf Breeze, FL, daughter Iris Bradford McCraney (Joey) of Temple, TX, granddaughter Courtney Bradford Birkle (Alex) of Jasper, IN and grandsons Ryan Martin (Gaynell) of LaGrange, GA, Tyler McCraney (Maggie) of Temple, TX and Bradford McCraney (Mae) of Portland, OR and Adam (Sheena) Boswell of Gulf Breeze, FL. He is also survived by one brother Larry Bradford of Terry, MS and great-grandchildren Evelyn and Livia Birkle, Harrison (Harry) and Finn Martin, Ellis McCraney, Sophie and Adrin Boswell and Jack and Mary Boswell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Evelyn Weber Bradford, parents Neal Bradford and Leona Myers Bradford, brothers Timothy, Joe, and Neal Austin Bradford, and sisters Winona Tucker, Margaret Pace and Merle Sistrunk. He was also preceded in death by grandson, John Boswell. Jim served in the United States Army for 2 years. He was stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Evelyn. He dedicated 30 years of his life to a career at Allstate Insurance. He was active in the Lion’s Club and the Gideons. Born in Scott, County , MS the 5th of 8 children, he was the first in his family to attend and graduate from college on a basketball scholarship. He was a lifelong fan of the University of Southern MS Golden Eagles. Jim was a longtime devoted member of Highland Baptist Church in Laurel, MS. In his free time, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and numerous friends. James Bradford’s legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His memory will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him. Contributions in memory of Jim can be made to the Gideon’s Organization. Memory Chapel in Laurel, MS is assisting with the funeral arrangements. Visitation will be at Memory Chapel on Friday, March 29th from 6-8. Services will be Saturday, March 30th at 10:30 at Memory Chapel, officiated by Brother Gene Douglas where friends and loved ones can pay their respects to a man of faith, love, and service. Pallbearers will be Ryan Martin, Tyler McCraney, Bradford McCraney, Alex Birkle, Adam Boswell and Scott Rowland. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Bradford, David Martin, Joey McCraney, Minor Pace, Gary Sistrunk and Michael Sistrunk. Interment will follow at Lake Park Hills Cemetery.
