JoNell Walley

JoNell Walley (Bonner) born in East Texas on October 25, 1932 to James and Mae Bonner, peacefully gained her heavenly wings at Jones County Rest Home in Ellisville, MS on January 31, 2025. She was known for her contagious smile and her calming demeanor. She loved with all of her heart and always saw the best in everyone she met. She loved being active within her Church at Ellisville First Methodist. She knew her way around the table, while playing bridge with her girls (she was quiet, but sneaky). She truly enjoyed having her ladies over for game day. She also had a passion for hummingbirds and would sit in her sunroom for hours, just watching them. If you know her, you know that her pup, Puggins, was her pride and joy. After his passing, we worried she wouldn’t find another pup like him, but then came Buddy, whom she loved just as much. JoNell married her best friend and love of her life, Lt. Col. D.R. Walley, Sr on May 9th, 1951. She committed her life to being a dedicated military wife. During their times of deployment, they welcomed three children, who they adored. Donna, Susan and Dan, Jr. JoNell was preceded death by her loving husband of 53 years, Lt. Col. Daniel Richard Walley, Sr, brother, James Bonner and sisters, Marie Coady and Juanita Coleman; son-in-law, Marty Brandt and our families pride and joy, Blake Walley (grandson) She is survived by daughters, Donna King (Micky) and Susan Brandt; son, Dan Walley, Jr and beloved daughter-in-law, Julia Childress; grandchildren, Joshua Lilly, Jeremy Lilly, Chase Johnson and Jonathan Johnson (Sam); six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Jones County Rest Home, for the love and care provided for Mrs. Walley. Also, to the staff at Memory Chapel, for being so kind and helpful during this time of grief. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Pastor Mark Anderson will officiate.
