Kenneth Karl Ward

Kenneth Karl “Mr. Big” Ward, 69, of Soso, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026. Born on December 23, 1956, in Gainesville, Texas, Kenneth spent his childhood in Houma and Lafayette, Louisiana, where he developed the easygoing nature and quiet strength that would define his life. He attended Lafayette High School before continuing his education at R.H. Watkins, Jones County Junior College, and Mississippi State University. During his time at Jones County Junior College, he proudly played football and formed friendships that lasted throughout his life. Kenneth spent much of his career working in offshore logistics, providing faithfully for his family through hard work and dedication. Outside of work, he enjoyed the things he loved most: golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Known affectionately as “Mr. Big” by those who loved him, he was a gentle giant whose kindness, patience, and humility left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was slow to anger, quick to listen, and possessed a dry sense of humor that often caught people by surprise. He lived as a true example of meekness, showing strength through gentleness, and treating others with quiet respect. Family members will especially miss the stories he loved to tell and retell, each one becoming a treasured part of the Ward family history. More than anything, Kenneth treasured the time he spent with those he loved. His greatest joy came from his family, and some of his happiest moments were simply being surrounded by his children and grandchildren, whose laughter never failed to bring a smile to his face. Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Denise Ward; his son, Adam Ward (Lori); his daughter, Madison Ward (Jimmy); his grandchildren, Noah (Halee), Bradyn, Nash, Maddox, and Landry; his great-grandson, Mason; his sister, Tammy Greuschow (David); and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.M. “Bud” Ward and Gale Ward. Kenneth's legacy of kindness, humility, loyalty, and love for family will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
