Kirby Leesanne Holifield

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kirby “Leesanne” Holifield on July 6, 2026, at the age of 67, following a long and courageous battle with Crohn’s disease. She faced every challenge with remarkable strength, grace, and determination, teaching everyone who knew her what it truly meant to persevere. Born in Laurel, Mississippi, on August 30, 1958, to Herman and Patsy Aycock, Leesanne was a graduate of R.H. Watkins High School, class of 1976. Though she lived with chronic illness for many years, she never allowed it to define her. She always found the energy to bring joy and laughter wherever she went, and her quick wit, warm smile, and resilient spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her greatest joy was her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them. A woman of deep faith, Leesanne found strength and comfort in the Lord throughout life's greatest joys and hardest trials. Her unwavering trust in God was a quiet but constant source of hope and an example to those who loved her. Leesanne is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Howard Holifield; her brother, David Aycock (Holly); her sons, Tommy Holifield (Tasha), Nathan Holifield (Amanda), and Joshua Holifield (Kaci); her grandchildren, Brandon Holifield, Brittany Creel (Justin), Seth Holifield (Macie), Skye Holifield, Samson Holifield, Roland “R.B.” Holifield, Amelie Holifield, and Skylar Holifield; and her great-grandchildren, Madalynn Creel and Kasyn Creel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Patsy Aycock, and her niece, Lesley Aycock. Though her earthly journey has ended, her family finds peace in knowing she has been made whole and is now resting in the presence of her Savior. The love, laughter, faith, and strength she shared will continue to live on through the family and friends who were blessed to know her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Leesanne’s memory to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation or the National Kidney Foundation to support research into inflammatory bowel disease and kidney disease.
