Lillie E. Bush

Lillie E. Green Bush, 102, of Laurel went home to be with her Lord on February 2, 2012. She was a resident at Jones County Rest Home, Ellisville for the past five years. She was a faithful member of West Laurel Baptist Church where she taught a ladies’ Sunday School Class for many years. She loved her Lord and was faithful in studying the Bible and ministering to friends and sharing her faith with others. She often read the Bible aloud to fellow residents at North View Villa where she lived for several years. Mrs. Bush was a retired teacher, having taught in Jones County Schools for many years. She taught at Ovett School where her husband was principal. She later taught at Calhoun School before retiring. She had a passion for teaching young children and helping them in any way she could. She was always an encourager to her students and friends and lived her life showing others of the love of her Lord. She loved to sew and do all kinds of needlework, and she gave much of her handwork to friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Veston H. Bush; her parents, John and Mary Elizabeth (Mollie) Green; three brothers, Lester Green, Willie Green and Randolph Green; three sisters, Lula Eidson, Annie Clark, and Clara Whigham. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte Bush Rice (Bob) and Carolyn Bush Turner (Wendel); three grandchildren, Michael Turner, Lynne Turner Smith (Tim), and Jan Turner Hughes (John); three great grandchildren, John Ethan Hughes, Jr., Turner Evan Hughes, and Mary Claire Hughes, all of Ellisville. Visitation and service will be at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm Sunday, February 5 with the service following at 2 pm. Rev. Jeff Taylor will officiate and Rev. Allen Hill will assist. Burial will be at Union Line Cemetery, Soso. Pallbearers will be Tim Smith, John Hughes, John Ethan Hughes, Mike Turner, Ken Swagger, Casey Hicks, Turner Hughes and Jonathan Strickler. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of West Laurel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Gideons International.
