Louise Byrd Albritton

Louise Byrd Albritton died peacefully in her sleep on July 10, 2013 at Comfort Care Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Highway 184 with Rev. Jim Taylor, 1st Baptist Church of Soso, officiating. She was born in Piave (Greene County), Mississippi on August 12, 1928 as one of eight children of Ethel and Riley E. Byrd and spent her youth in Wayne County where she met and married her husband Melton Jackson Albritton who preceded her in death in 2003. The Albrittons lived in Laurel where they reared their four sons and were known for enjoying all the activities associated with their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Albritton owned and operated a day care center where she reared many of Laurel’s children as she did her own and was known as a delightful grandmother with loving influence to guide many young people. She leaves a legacy of a family she loved and was very proud of the good character of each one of her children, their wives, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Andy Jerone Albritton (Pam) of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; Stephen Christopher Albritton (Sheila) and Johnathan Shawn Albritton, called Sam, of Laurel. Mrs. Albritton was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Andre Albritton in 2007. His widow, Gloria Albritton and their children surviving Louise Albritton are Lyle Albritton and Jeremy Albritton. She is also survived by her other grandchildren Leslie Cathleen Fender (Chris) of Vicksburg; Andrew Justin Albritton of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; Stephen Christopher Albritton, Jr. (Allison) of Laurel; Kelly Carmel Gregory (Harrison) of Tupelo; Johnathan Taylor Albritton and Ashlyn Louise Albritton of Laurel. Her great-grandchildren surviving her are Jackson Bryant Fender and Wyatt Lee Fender of Vicksburg; Ethan Ramsey Albritton and Andrew James Albritton of Laurel and Evelyn Steele Gregory of Tupelo. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations for Louise Albritton may be made to the Laurel Garden Club, P. O. Box 4081, Laurel, MS 39441; for Gardiner Park. Memory Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
