Mark Edward Morgan

Mark Edward Morgan, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on December 30, 2025. He was born in Laurel, Mississippi, on March 13, 1959, to the late Howard and Eloise Morgan. It was in their loving home where the gospel was taught and lived out that he heard the calling of God’s irresistible grace at an early age. The youngest of four children, Mark loved his formative years growing up on Second Avenue in Laurel and was always quick to recount stories of those times. As a teenager, Mark spent many happy days working at Blue and Sons Furniture with his grandfather, Rev. Rupert (“Papa”) Blue, who influenced his life greatly. After attending Jones County Junior College, Mark graduated from Mississippi State University and married his high school sweetheart, the former Susan Grafton. The Lord blessed their marriage with four children, whom they raised on Morgan family land purchased decades earlier by his much-loved grandmother, Emmie Meeks Morgan. Mark was a long-time member of Audubon Drive Bible Church, where he served as a deacon. The many friendships formed there were a source of strength, encouragement and great joy in his life. Mark’s love for Jesus spilled over into every area of his life: family, church, work and his community. He poured life into all that he met. He was full of joy and knew how to have fun. Mark loved to cook and enjoy the final product—a passion he passed on to his children. His years of woodworking proved him to be a master of the craft, and his prized works were the pieces he built for his family. As much as he loved his children and their spouses, his greatest joy was being Papa to his ten adoring grandchildren. He loved being outdoors and watching Mississippi State athletics, not just for the sake of the activity, but as a way to spend time with the people he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Eloise Morgan, and sister-in-law, Kathy Morgan. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susan Morgan, and their family: son, Will Morgan with wife Haley and children, Liza, Emmaline, William and Lucy Louise; son, Andrew Morgan with wife Anna and children, Davis and Blair; son, Thomas Morgan with wife Holly and children, Houston and Robbye Ann; and daughter, Erin Rigel with husband Daniel and children, Harper and Mark Harrison. He is also survived by his brother, Alan Morgan with wife Mary; sister, Hope Grafton, with husband Ken; brother, Steven Morgan with wife Denise; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from noon until 2 pm on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Audubon Drive Bible Church in Laurel, Mississippi. A celebration of life and worship service will immediately follow with a final internment at Lake Park Cemetery. Memory Chapel of Laurel will assist with arrangements. Pastor Jerry Marcellino and Pastor Tyler Clark will officiate the services. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in his honor to the general operating fund of Laurel Christian School. His family expresses their deepest gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Forrest General Hospital for providing the highest level of care with the greatest degree of compassion.
