Martha Margaret Pippen

Mrs. W. O. (Margaret) Pippen, 95, of Sandersville, MS, went to be with her Lord on September 29, 2017. She was born in Jones County on December 4, 1921. She had been a resident of Comfort Care for four months, but previously to that, lived in Sandersville for forty plus years, where she was affectionately known as “the flag lady” or Prissy. Mother was famous, not only for her chocolate pies and pudding, but for her banana pudding, caramel and chocolate cakes, all made from scratch. Mother took her role as pastor’s wife seriously. She served alongside our father in churches in north and south Mississippi and also in Alabama. Mother was preceded in death by our father, the dear love of her life for 56 years, W. O. Pippen. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kari McLaurin or Kari-poo to Mother. Her parents, James Marcus and Jessie Maybelle Pierce, four brothers, and seven sisters also preceded her death. Family left to grieve her passing but rejoicing in her Heavenly homecoming is her daughter, Barbara (Bayliss) Sellers of Laurel, MS; son, David (Faye) Pippen of Bay Springs, MS, daughter, Kathy (Charles) McLaurin of Petal, MS; four grandchildren, Clay Sellers (Adrianna), Jonathan Pippen (Amanda J.), Chip McLaurin, and Amanda McCarty (Joel); fourteen great grandchildren, Allison Strickland, Eric Stillwell, Kisa Miller, Trey, Colton, Connor and Jessica McLaurin, Cassie Sellers, Jadyn, Jake and Jon Truman Pippen, Bailey, Emily McCarty and Benjie Carney; and two great great grandchildren, Harvey and Holly Strickland; and her best friend and last living sister, Ellen Lowe. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and many special, loving friends. Services will be conducted at Memory Chapel, Laurel, MS by Bro. Donnie Parker and Bro. Bill Bolton, on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Sharon Cemetery on Sharon Road beside her beloved husband. Music for the funeral will be provided by Mother’s dear friend, Ann Hickson, Mark Robinson, and the congregation, led by Bob White, who directed Mother in her last cantata at age 91. Pallbearers will be some special people that Mother loved dearly, Wayne Hickson, Jamie Hickson, Matthew Maddox, and her grandsons, Clay Sellers, Jonathan Pippen and Chip McLaurin.
