Patricia Kirkland Miles

On Saturday, April 2, 2016, Patricia Kirkland Miles, 71, left unexpectedly for heaven, her eternal home. "Pat", as she was affectionately known by everyone, was welcomed by family members who preceded her there: her parents, Houston and Golda Kirkland; brothers, Tommy Kirkland and Charles Kirkland; sister, Martha Gay Brown; and two tiny grand angels, Charlie Bell Dickerson and Braxton Luke Dickerson. She is survived here by her husband of 43 years, Terry Miles; her three children, Tera Miles Tisdale and husband Mike, Jodi Miles Dickerson and husband Bruiser, and Ryan Miles and wife Amber; four grandchildren, Ethan Tisdale, Addison Tisdale, Amry Rose Miles, and Anley Ryan Miles; brothers, Terry Kirkland and Richard Kirkland and wife Karen; brother-in-law, Butch Brown; sisters, Pam Aultman and husband Mike, Margaret Wedgeworth, Janice Martin and husband Oliver, and Mary Jim Burchfield; sister-in-law, Glenda Kirkland; and a host of nieces and nephews and relatives by marriage. In her earlier years, Pat was recognized as a star basketball player, being inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Pearl River Central High School. She continued to exhibit the highest of standards throughout her life by being involved in church, serving as choir member, Sunday school teacher, deacon's wife, and devoted many decades to teaching children God's Word. Pat is responsible for leading several children to accept the gift of salvation on her personal mission field in the children's department, and was still actively teaching there at Journey Church. Pat collected Blue Willow vintage pieces, Santa Claus figurines, antique furniture and decor. She and Terry enjoyed progressively collecting Alewine Pottery from the Smoky Mountains, a favorite place to go on family getaways. She loved watching the hummingbirds feed at the patio; cooking for family; helping others; and, most of all, loving her family. Pat delighted in keeping her grandchildren and passing on to them the importance of living for Christ, as she did her children. Pat was proud of her husband, children, and grandchildren, and loved telling people about their accomplishments in life. She was the perfect example of a godly woman, and was loved and highly respected by everyone who knew her. Without a doubt, she heard the Lord say, "Welcome home, my good and faithful servant", and is now reaping the rewards of her years of love for, and service to, the King. Homegoing celebration for Patricia Kirkland Miles will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Brother Robby Johnson and Brother Butch Brown. Pallbearers will be Seth Kirkland, Shane Kirkland, Greg Miles, Gabe Burchfield, Ricky Kirkland, and Jeremy Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Tisdale and Josh Brown.
