Robert O'Neil Mulder Sr.

Robert O’Neil Mulder, Sr. was born on December 17, 1947, and passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 77 after a long illness. Robert was a goodhearted man who loved his family deeply. His life was defined by kindness, devotion, and the joy he found in being surrounded by those he cherished most. He will be remembered for his warmth, his generosity of spirit, and the steady love he gave to his family and friends. Robert worked in the oil field as a driller, where his dedication and hard work earned the respect of his colleagues. He later spent 10 years as a long-distance, over-the-road commercial truck driver for his neighbor’s company, Hoover Bethea Trucking, and continued this profession with Powell Industries for the next 30 years. His career reflected his resilience, reliability, and commitment to providing for his family. Beyond his work, Robert found great joy in attending family reunions in his hometown of Atmore, Alabama, where he reconnected with loved ones and celebrated the bonds that meant so much to him. He also enjoyed fishing, a pastime that brought him peace and happiness. Above all, Robert was deeply devoted to his wife, Virginia Mulder, with whom he shared a loving home in Ellisville, Mississippi. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Mulder; his two sons, Robert O’Neil Mulder Jr. and Michael Mulder Sr ; and his stepdaughters, Patsy Pruitt and Kathy Schlunaker. He also leaves behind his grandchildren — Brittany Smith (née Mulder), Courtney Mulder, Regina Dawn Pruitt, Justin Lee Schlunaker, Donovan O’Neil Walters, Amber Hilred, Jamie Woods, Shawn Petrie, Brittany Hilred, Michael Mulder Jr— and his great-grandchildren — Russell Smith, Adalyn Salazar, Tony Hilred, Aiden Hilred, Isis Hilred, Akiya Hilred, Emerie Hilred, Aiden Hilred , Caress Hilred, Rodolfo Hernandez, Kayson Woods, and Chloe Schlunaker, Cortlandt Stewart Goff and Lawrence Edwin Goff III. Robert is also survived by his sisters, Louise Hadley and Thelma Baker, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jesse Mulder, and his sister, Doris Jones. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Memory Chapel, 3100 Audubon Drive, Laurel, Mississippi, with the funeral service to follow. Family and friends are invited to gather, honor his memory, and share stories of the man who meant so much to them. Chris Floyd will officiate.
