Sau Lin Chow Li

Mrs. Li was born Sau Lin Chow on June 27, 1930 in Hong Kong China to parents, Sui U Chow and Kwan Oi Wan. She emigrated to the United States in August of 1977, and she would plant her roots in Mississippi alongside her eldest son, Tony, who was by her side until her final days. Sau would spend the next 46 years helping to raise her grandchildren between Mississippi, Texas, California and Hong Kong. Aside from her loud voice and boisterous personality, Sau was known for her excellent cooking. Influenced by her father’s restaurant, Sau would share these same recipes with her seven children and seventeen grandchildren. She lived a very long and fulfilling life, full of stories, soap opera marathons, and even a national TV show appearance. She is survived by: her siblings, Maria Mah, Anita Szeto (Peter), Joseph Chow (Selina), and Peter Chow (Rosanna), her 7 children: Tony Li (Monica), Robert Li (Carine), Anna Lam (Albert), Li Suet Mui (Tong Kwong Kin), Derek Li (Maxim), Bruce Li, and Macy Lin (Patrick). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Connie Liu (David), Ivy Lam, Sandy Lam (Raymond), Michelle Lam, Kathy Yip (Kane), Tiffany McElroy (Justin), Adrian Li (Mandy Lam), Matthew Lin (Danielle), Alex Lam (Cecilia), Daltria Li, Sharon Li, Dalton Li (Bailey), Mitchell Li, Jessica Lin, Robyn Li and Megan Li; and her four beloved great-grandchildren: Henry, Claire, Asher and Ellie. She was preceded in death by her parents: Sui U Chow and Kwan Oi Wan, her husband: Li Yiu Fai, siblings, Sau Ying Wong, Josephine Wong, Gook Cho Chow, Sau-Yung Chow, and Louis Chow; and her granddaughter: Pricilla Li. Sau passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023 in her home in Laurel, MS. In her 93 years, she touched so many lives. Whether it was her love of fried chicken, her laughter, her animated voice, her honest observations, or the way she shuffled her feet, she has left her mark on everyone’s memories and hearts. A memorial service to honor Sau Lin Chow Li will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Memory Chapel in Laurel, Mississippi with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. A celebration of Sau’s life will be held in Houston, Texas at a later date.
