Shirley Sue Warren

Shirley Sue Warren, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and proud Navy wife, passed away peacefully at South Central Regional Medical Center, Laurel, Mississippi on May 31, 2025 at the age of 84. Shirley was born and raised in Dogwood, Alabama to Jesse and Lexie Hood and will be reuniting with them in Heaven along with many other family members and friends. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late John William Warren; a 20-year veteran of the United States Navy. Shirley and John shared a remarkable 58 years of marriage, during which Shirley supported John's naval career with pride and this made her a role model for many active duty spouses. She often felt her role as a Navy wife was of life's most significant experiences. Shirt, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.Those who knew Shirt will remember her for her infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, her deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered. She had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. Shirley was a member of the Wal-Mart family and had made many life long friends for 10 years and it was the highlight of her life in which she had served the community. Shirley loved listening to her Wonder Bible, due to being sight impaired, and loved going to the Kingston Assembly of God Church every Sunday listening to God's word and participating in fellowship. Shirley is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Pamela S. Warren (Steven Brink), Terri L. Barker (Jerry Barker) and two beautiful sisters, Thelma Smith (Gary Smith(d) and Margaret White (James E. White(d). Shirley is blessed with six grandchildren, Sara Green (Lester Green), James Brink, Jonathon Sullivan, Shawna Singletary (Trey Singletary), Jay Barker and Dylan Barker; and twelve great grandchildren; Alexis Bourque, Kayla Green, Bradley Green, Jenson Green, Jakob Green, Jayzen Cooper, Destiny Singletary, Leah Singletary, Ryleigh Singletary, Aiden Singletary, Gabby Sullivan and Zoey Sullivan. Although Shirley's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
