Dorothy McKee Thomas

Ms. Dorothy McKee Thomas was born September 25, 1942 to Oscar McKee, Jr. and Ina Ruby McKee in Leake County, Mississippi. Ms. Thomas went home to be with her Heavenly Father on March 22, 2022 at Anderson Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi. She was 79 years old. Ms. Thomas retired from the State of Mississippi Department of Health with 28 years of service. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who gave unselfishly and was loved by all. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were so special to her, and they adored her as well. Ms. Thomas loved to spend time with friends while playing bridge at the Meridian Queen City Duplicate Bridge Club. She was a member of Shady Grove First Baptist Church in Heidelberg, MS. She was preceded in death by Gilbert Thomas and her parents, Oscar McKee Jr. and Ruby McKee. She is survived by daughters, Stacie Sammons (Brian) of Enterprise, Mississippi, and Tracie Burge (Roger) of Quitman, Mississippi; by brothers Zac McKee of Sebastopol, Mississippi, and Mark McKee of Lake Eddins, Mississippi; by sisters, Sherry McKee of Standing Pine, Mississippi, and Randi Stewart of Sebastopol, Mississippi; by grandson, Dylan Burge; by granddaughters, Brandi Sullivan, Cameran Sammons, and Hayden Burge; and by four great granddaughters. Visitation will be held at Shady Grove First Baptist Church in Heidelberg, Mississippi, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2022. Bro. Bill Boulton will officiate. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Nephews will honor Ms. Thomas as pallbearers, including Jimmy McKee, Jason McKee, Brad McKee, Marcus McKee, Tim Stewart, and Michael Stewart.
