James R. Bridges

Mr. James R Bridges 87 of Laurel died Wednesday at Comfort Care Nursing Center in Laurel. He was born June 8, 1923 in Laurel. He was a member of Tuckers Crossing Baptist Church where he served faithfully throughout the years. He served in the U S Navy having served in the South Pacific during World War II on the USS President Hayes. He was retired from the U S Postal Service. He is preceded in death by his parents Anthony “Tony” and Amanda Land Bridges. Two Sisters Eudora Strehle and Eula Taylor. One Brother Edgar Bridges. He is survived by his wife Bobbie Bridgers of Laurel. Two Sons Kim Bridges and wife Kathy of Ellisville. Tim Bridges and wife Jimmie of Petal. Two Daughters Karen Robinson and husband Larry of Ellisville, Wanda Smith and husband Randy of Ellisville. Grandchildren Keith Bridges and wife Jessica, Kristopher Bridges and wife Tiffany, Kasey Bridges and wife Erin, Mandy Hicks, Jennifer Jones, Gary Robinson and wife Christi, Zachery Robinson and wife Jessica and Kayla Boudreaux and husband Danny. Eleven Great Grandchildren.One Sister Genora Dycus of Hattiesburg,Ms. Sister-in-Law Carolyn Holifield and husband Keith of Ellisville, Brother-in-Law Billy Langley and wife Martha of Ellisville, Brother-in-Law Willie Langley and wife Betty of Knoxville, Tenn. And a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be 2:00PM Sunday at Memory Chapel with burial to follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 8PM at Memory Chapel. Revs. Eddie Bryant, Daniel Boudreaux and Russell Cottingham will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Keith Bridges, Kristopher Bridges, Kasey Bridges, Gary Robinson, Zachery Robinson and Kevin Holifield. Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Holifield, Billy Langley, Willie Langley, Jack Brown and Robert Forbes. In Lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to The Baptist Children’s Village at P.O. 27, Clinton, Ms. 39060-0027, The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions through Tuckers Crossing Baptist Church , 2054 Tuckers Crossing Road, Laurel, Ms. 39443 or Christian Food Mission P.O. Box 2422, Laurel, Ms. 39442 or your favorite charity. Memory Chapel is in charge of services.
