Johnnie Parish of Hattiesburg, MS passed away at Merit Health Wesley on February 19, 2022 after a brief illness of Covid. She was born February 6,1942 in Laurel, Mississippi to Gladys and John Floyd. She was a hairstylist in Laurel for 30 plus years, retiring to help her husband with his new career. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend and grandmother. Her family was her life. She was the type of person you could share your secrets with and know your confidence would never be betrayed. She gave unselfishly to her children, grandchildren and her friends and was loved by everyone. She was full of life and joy in all her endeavors. She loved to be at her camp in Gautier and loved to spend time with her friends talking late into the night many times. She loved going on cruises and spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was in her children and later her grandchildren. She married her only love at just 17 years old and later adopted their 2 children who she loved more than if she had given birth to them. She was a devoted caregiver to her husband throughout his illness and loved him through health and sickness as she was commanded by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Jarvis Parish, her father John Floyd and her mother Gladys Everett Thompson. She is survived by her sister Gloria Gavin Jefcoat (Billy), her son Gregory Earl Parish (Joy), daughter Sonya Parish Sanderson, granddaughters Faith Nicole Parish, Anna Marie Parish Strickland (John), Amy Elizabeth Sanderson Bounds (Zack) and Natalie Kendall Sanderson, two great grandchildren Hadlee Claire Wand and Carter Huston Bounds, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel on Monday, February 28, 2022 with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. and service at 3:00 p.m. Graveside will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robbie Gavin, Mike Parrish, Zack Bounds, John Strickland, Al Everett, Douglas Overstreet and Victor Joe Everett. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Gavin and Billy Parker.
