Mildred Edwards Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mildred Edwards of Montgomery, Tx, passed away peacefully from this life on May 7th, 2022 at the age of 94. Mildred grew up in Laurel, MS. She was retired from Director of Stevens Center for Alcohol and Drug Mental Health Center, Pascagoula, MS. She won the RT Douglas Award in 1987 for Conscientious and Dedicated Service MAASAC, Mental Health, Jackson, MS. Mildred also wrote a weekly column for the Mississippi Press in Pascagoula. She authored and drew Max’s Coloring Book on Alcohol and Drugs which was published. Mildred loved reading and contributing to the Facebook page “Old Laurel (Mississippi) Memories”. She left a lot of good stories of how it used to be. Mildred lived with Rick, Jill and Hunter for the past 11 years and got to enjoy and was a delightful part of our extended family celebrations. Mildred was a very talented artist and was very generous in drawings done for others over the years and left behind a beautiful collection and many pieces her family will cherish. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Walton Lucas and Ruby Meador Lucas; one sister, Evelyn Lois Jackson; and husbands, Richard Gilbert Stevens and George T. Edwards. Mildred leaves behind her son, Richard Gilbert Stevens Jr and his wife, Jill Renae Stevens of Montgomery, TX; brother, William Harold Lucas and wife, Bettye Jo Lucas; grandsons, Richard Gilbert Stevens III and Michelle Draper of Paducah, KY, John Vincent Stevens and Kaitlyn Machael Stevens of Paducah, KY, Hunter James Stevens of Montgomery, TX; and great grandsons, John Vincent Stevens II and Kash Michael Stevens of Paducah, KY. Visitation will be at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel on June 6th, 2022 from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. The Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel on the same day.
