Susan Jo "Jody" West Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Susan Jo “Jody” West, former owner of “Granny’s Catfish House” was born on November 24, 1954 and passed peacefully at home on August 4, 2022 with her loved ones by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlene and Beau Herrington; and brothers, Johnny Wayne West, Jerry West, and Sammy “Peanut” West. She is survived by her brothers, Butch Murray and Skipper West; her sisters, Ricki Nixon, Becky Harwell, and Shirley Rayner; her daughter, Regina Sims; and grandsons, Landon Bullock and Peyton Sims. Also, special mention, Mallory and Max Nixon and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel in Laurel, MS on Saturday, August 6th 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Graveside service to immediately follow at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Butch Murray, Maynard West, Landon Bullock, JoJo Walker, Will Rayner and Peyton Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be: Billy Bo Rayner, Brandon and Bradley Roberts, Kelvin Paul Nixon, James Roberts and Pat Carr. Jody “Aunt Jo Jo” was the caretaker of all and best known as “The Favorite Aunt” and everyone loved her well known “Granny’s Catfish” cooking. To know her was to love her (even with her West temper).
