Darrell E. Springer

Darrell E. Springer, age 75, a lifelong resident of Laurel, Mississippi, passed away on January 1, 2026, in Laurel. Darrell was a devoted and loving husband to his beautiful wife, Danette, whom he loved more than anything in this world. Together, they built a life rooted in love, dedication, and family, raising two wonderful children, Nick C. Springer and Eren L. Voss (Springer). This led to a growing family including: Michael "Heavy", Colin "Coggie", Reid "Shuggie Reid", and Amelia "Mia". Family was always at the heart of who Darrell was, and he took great pride in those he held closest. Known for his extremely hardworking character, Darrell never hesitated to lend a helping hand to friends, neighbors, or even strangers in need. His strong work ethic, integrity, and determination led him to build and own well-known and successful businesses in the local area, earning the respect and admiration of many throughout the community. There are many stories from Darrell’s younger days that will remain untold, but one true fact stands above all others—nearly all of them involved close friends. Those friendships, especially with Chester Thornton, Frank Clark, Ben House, Trevor Stringer, and even the occasional Curtis Gatewood, were a meaningful and cherished part of his life and speak to the loyalty and camaraderie he valued so deeply. Darrell is survived by his wife, Danette D. Springer (Dyson); his son, Nick C. Springer; his daughter, Eren L. Voss (Springer), and her husband, Michael C. Voss; his brother, Robert Riddle; and his grandchildren, Colin, Reid, and Amelia, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He was preceded in death by his parents, V.E. “Lucky” Springer and Mary E. Springer (Shows), and his sister, Patricia M. Schmidt (Springer). Visitation will be held at Eastview Baptist Church from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a service to immediately follow. A graveside ceremony and prayer will be held at Lawn Haven Cemetery following the service. Darrell will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his tireless work ethic, his loyalty to friends, and his generous, helping spirit. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the family he loved so dearly, and the many lives he touched.
