Delma Johnson Bustin

Delma Johnson Bustin, born January 12, 1920, Laurel, MS, died May 14, 2014. A lifelong resident of the Shady Grove Community, she was 94 years old. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shady Grove. She was a Sunday School Teacher and co-founder of the Meals on Wheels Program at FBCSG. She loved to quilt and made many that will be treasured by her family. She planted a vegetable garden anywhere that she could find the space and the same was true for her flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Johnson and Nancy Lyons Johnson; husband, Byron Bustin; daughter, JoAnn Bustin Shotts; sister, Martha Harper; brothers, Cicero, W. T., and Willard Johnson; grandsons, David Michael Shotts, and Jeremy Tate Bustin. She was survived by sister, Geraldine Johnson (Bud) Harper; sons, Gary (Judy) Bustin of Maryville, TN, Bill (Sandy) Bustin of Laurel, MS, and Jim (Judy) Bustin of Gautier, MS; daughter, Wanda (Harry) Hall of El Dorado Hills, CA; nine grandchildren, Stephen Shotts, Hope Shotts, Brent ( Tracy) Bustin, Garrett (Sherry) Bustin, Jennifer LaValle (Shaugn) McReynolds, Allison Bustin, Bradley Bustin, Kevin (Carisa) Hall and Andy (Nora) Hall; ten great grandchildren, Todd Shotts, Anna Bustin, Ross Bustin, Stone Bustin, Tanner Bustin, Olivia LaValle, Maren LaValle, Miles Hall, Avery Hall & Reagan Hall. There are many non-biological children survivors; far too many to name. They were friends of her children that were around so much that they became part of our family. She was also fortunate enough to have outstanding caregivers /friends/personal assistants. Thank all of you so much for your love and support; it will never be forgotten. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Shady Grove on Saturday May 17, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. with the service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Danny Pitts and Rev. Bill Riley will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations are made to the First Baptist Church of Shady Grove Building Fund or Meals on Wheels Program. Memory Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
