Georgena Sullivan Lott

Georgena S. Lott, 89, of Laurel, MS passed away on July 30, 2024 at Laurelwood Community Living Center, Laurel, MS. She was born on February 15, 1935, as the second of five daughters, to J.D. and Selma Meadows Sullivan of Collins, MS. A 1952 Collins High School graduate, Georgena was a good student and participated in all high school activities. She was honored when the Senior class elected her the Cutest Girl, the Most Popular, and CHS Tigers Cheerleader. In addition, she was cast in the Senior Play and named the Forestry Queen. Georgena grew up as a member of Salem Baptist Church, near Collins. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Billy Frank Lott, the couple made their home in Laurel, where they joined Magnolia Baptist Church. A devoted mother and homemaker, her main hobby was cooking. She was well known in the community for her delicious cakes, pies, cookies and candies which she gladly shared with others. Hosting Thanksgiving became a family tradition – one where her siblings and parents reunited each year for fest and fellowship. Her home was always open to family and friends. She welcomed all. She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents George Meadows, Alice Wade Meadows Sumrall, Horace T. Sumrall; paternal grandparents Cooper M. Sullivan and Nettie Owens Sullivan; beloved sisters Fleeta Beth Thomas and Dorothy Jean Sanford Gill; and her former husband, Capt. Billy Frank Lott. Survivors include her sons Brian Frank Lott (Victoria) of Atlanta; Billy Alan Lott (Melissa) of Nashville; granddaughter Katherine Leigh Dees of Atlanta; grandson Hunter Alan Lott of Nashville; granddaughter Kellie Saulters (Joel) of Collins, MS and great-granddaughters Kinley Grace Saulters and Rylee Dale Saulters. She is also survived by sisters Eva S. Malcom (Charles) of Charlotte, NC and Betty S. Walker (Ronnie) of Nicholls, GA, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Shannon Overstreet, Kristina Scarborough, Jonathon Cosper, and Brittany McNeil, along with all who knew Georgena as a friend, will long have many fond memories of her to pass along.
