Harley "Buddy" Swindoll

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harley "Buddy" Swindoll on May 18, 2026. He was born June 15, 1938, to Noah Everette and Grace Weeks Swindoll in Euporia, MS. He and his wife settled in Laurel back in the 70's where he worked many years doing a little of everything at Horne Nursery. He was truly a jack of all trades. He spent the last 15 years of his life battling Parkinson's disease at Windham House Nursing Facility in Hattiesburg, MS. He made countless friends over the years and was well liked by most of the residents and staff. We would like to thank each and every one for their hard work, dedication and kindness in taking care of “Swindoll” as he was known for so many years. From the CNA's, nurses, dietary, housekeeping, laundry, office and therapy staff, he had a joke for everyone. He loved rolling around the place trying to run things. Before Parkinson's took control, he was a big deer hunter. He also was a huge NASCAR fan. He loved vehicles and could tell you everything you needed to know. In his recent years, he loved bingo days and thought he was the best. He liked participating in whatever was going on. His favorite thing to say was "you know me, once I start something I am not giving up!” He worked countless puzzles all hours of the day. His favorite thing was getting a Royal New York Cheesecake Blizzard from Dairy Queen. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ernestine Clark Swindoll; parents Noah Everette and Grace Swindoll; older brother he always referred to as Baby Swindoll and brother Jimmy Clyde Swindoll. He is survived by his children Brenda Walch (Peter) of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Tonia Robbins and Harley Glenn Swindoll of Laurel; Tammy Swindoll Ingram of Seminary, MS; grandchildren include Cori Parker and Samantha Blacklege of Sister Bay, Wisconsin, Jason (Michelle) Gardner of Laurel, Tyler Wayne Robbins of Laurel, Haley and Amber Swindoll of Laurel, Audrianna (Cassie) Ingram of White Hall, Arkansas; great-grandchildren include Jade Atencio, Seth Parker and Karlie Hooper of Sister Bay, Wisconsin, Jacob (Brook) Gardner and Shaun (Elana) Gardner of Laurel; great-great-grandchildren include Baby Ava Jean Gardner and baby Jace Gardner who is due this year. He is also survived by a brother, Harvey Swindoll of Winona, MS. The family of Harley Swindoll will announce a memorial service at a later date.
