Lana Jo Wood

Lana Wood, age 72, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on July 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on June 16, 1954, Lana was the beloved daughter of the late John Monroe Knight and Mattie Louise Jenkins Knight. She was the youngest of four children and cherished the close bond she shared with her siblings throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, James "Jimmy" Wood, Sr., whose love and partnership were the foundation of a beautiful life together. She also leaves behind her beloved son, James Wood, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, and her treasured granddaughter, Maddison Wood, who brought endless pride and happiness to her life. She is also survived by her loving brothers, Charles Knight, and Marlin Knight and his wife, Mary Ann; and her sister, Brenda Manasco and her husband, Cecil. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved and proudly spoiled. Lana's greatest joy was her family. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she made each of them feel special through her kindness, encouragement, and unwavering support. Above all, Lana was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She lived her life with grace, compassion, and a servant's heart, always placing God and her family at the center of everything she did. Her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and steadfast devotion will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at South Central Medical Center, Comfort Care of Laurel, and EMServ for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided during Lana's final days. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. The memories she created, the love she shared, and the example she set will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew her. Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, Mississippi, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 9 until 10 a.m. followed by a service at 10 a.m. Bro. Chris Floyd will officiate. Interment will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Gitano. Pallbearers will be Calvin Hutson, Chris Ainsworth, John Manasco, Dylan Manasco, Johnny Keyes, and Scott McInnis. Honorary pallbearer will be Basil Kirk.
