Martha Virginia Noel

Martha Virginia McNeill Noel was born in Laurel, MS, on January 7, 1941, to George Alexander and Eria Willett McNeill, who preceded her in death. She passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025. Raised in Laurel, she was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Laurel. Martha graduated from Gardiner High School in 1958, and from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1962. On September 15, 1962, Martha married Bennie Noel. She chose to use her Home Economics degree and her many talents to create a loving home for her family. Martha was an excellent cook and seamstress. Martha had a deep love for her family, supporting her children and grandchildren in their various endeavors throughout the years. In recent years, she lived in Oxford, MS, where her youngest son and his family reside. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her brother, George McNeill, Jr., and her brothers-in-law, Robert Bryant and Rolfe Risher. Martha is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bennie Noel; her sister, Sandra McNeill Bryant; and her children: Kathy (Bill) Robinson of Laurel, Deborah (Tim) Odom of Hurley, Lisa (Ron) Robinson of Guntown, and Brad (Christie) Noel of Oxford. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren who will cherish her memory: Amanda and Brett (Brittany) Robinson; Chase, Kendall, Morgan, and Jacob Robinson; and John Taber, Mary Grace, George, Anna Bradley, and Hank Noel. Additionally, Martha leaves behind two great-grandchildren: Stella and Ripp Robinson. She is also survived by nephews Neill and Scott Bryant and their families, as well as sister-in-law Carolyn Noel Risher, nephew Tony Risher, Beth Thomas, Donna Risher Hamilton, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, followed by a graveside service at Lake Park Hills Cemetery in Laurel at 3:00 PM. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Honduras Medical-Dental Mission in care of First Baptist Church of Laurel.
