Mary Marie Clinton

Mary Marie Clinton, 81, of Ellisville passed away on August 16th at her residence after a long and fulfilling life. Mary was born on January 21st, 1943 in Laurel and was one of seven children. She had four brothers and two sisters, and she was the baby of the family. She was preceded in death by her mother Iva Clinton, her father Elbert Clinton, her brothers Robert, Eddie, Bill and Buddy, and her sister Patsy. Mary is known as the babysitter in the family, and because of her love for children coupled with a caregiver spirit she moved in with her sister Shirley and her family in the early 1970's, and she never left. Mary never married or had children of her own but she was able to share in and touch the lives of most every child in our family. Mary has been given many names over the years, MeMe, Nonna, or Merdus, and she answered to all of them. Mary is survived by her sister Shirley Clinton Walker who she called “sis”, Shirley's husband Ed who Mary lovingly referred to as “papaw", her nieces Debbie (David) Porter and their children Jessica, David, and Jenny; Wanda (Ronnie) Winton and their children Wayne and Josh; Cheree (Sherman) Livingston and their children Rickey and Jason; and Teresa Walker (Nelson) Cartwright and their children Devin, Austin and Tyler; Nikki Poore (Robert) and their children Bailey, Laken, Kyleigh, Kayleigh, and Ashlyn; Teresa Clinton and her daughter Ana; her nephews Jerry (Theresa) Loper and their children Bear, Adrien, and Joey; Billy Clinton and his children Jacqueline and April; Eddie (Tanya) Loper and children Eddie and DeeDee; Bobby (Liz) Loper and children Chris and Wesley; Kenny Walker and his children Savannah, Mason, and Devin; and Mark Clinton and his children Matthew and Jacob; and a host of great nieces and nephews. Mary was truly a special, one-of-a-kind person who loved God, Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, and her family, and in that order. She touched many lives while she was here, and she brought people together. She will be missed and remembered every day. A special thank you to the Deaconess Hospice Nurses Brittany, Whitney, Ashley, and Jenny for accepting Mary as part of their family and helping to give her a voice when she no longer had one. You will always be remembered fondly. Services for Mary will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday, August 24th at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Brother Jerry Rowley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Adrien Loper, Rickey Herrington, Jason Livingston, Devin Walker, Mason Walker, and Tyler Dalrymple.
