Page Weatherly Jones Harris

Page Weatherly Jones Harris passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Page was born in Laurel on May 18, 1940, and was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. James William Jones (Lillian). She was the wife of the late Thomas Henry Harris, Jr., Page graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in, and a lifetime infatuation for, drama and acting. Her early career was as a teacher at St. John’s Episcopal School and later in life she co-owned Laurel Travel Consultants for many years, which allowed her to travel often and extensively. She was one of the early passengers on the Orient Express, going from Vienna to Istanbul, but Paris, France may have been her favorite place. Page was among the founders of the Laurel Little Theatre, Laurel Arts League and a supporter of the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, St John’s Episcopal Church, where she was an active member, and the Animal Rescue League of Laurel, supporting all with her time and gifts. For many years she and Tommy maintained a home in New Orleans in the French Quarter where they made many local friends as well as hosting their Laurel visitors. They had season tickets to the Saints and Page never failed to costume for Mardi Gras. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas Henry Harris, Jr., her sister-in-law Hallie Harris Box (Neal) and her nephew David Box. She is survived by her sister-in-law Elizabeth Harris Box (Ben), her nephews Benjamin Box, Jr., Bobby Box and her nieces Elizabeth Box and Beth Box Holland, as well as her cousin Dr. George M. Harris, Jr., his daughters, Hallie Reid Harris and Page’s godchild, Spencer Page and Olivia Harris. The family would like to thank Page’s caregivers for their loyalty and excellent care; Kathy Langley, Kim Chancellor and JoAnn Settle. Also, Mr. Billy Washington for his support of both Tommy and Page over many years. Page’s car of choice was always a convertible, her fingernails and lipstick red, her jewelry gold and she loved anything animal print. Page was one of the kindest people you could encounter in this life. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 25 at 11:00 AM at Lake Park Cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Chapel. A reception will follow at the Laurel Country Club.
