Patsy Stokes Walters , lovingly known as “Granny,” passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026 at the age of 83. She was born on October 7, 1942 in Laurel, Mississippi. For many years, she served faithfully as a nurse at South Central Regional Medical Center, where she cared for countless patients with compassion, skill, and a gentle spirit. Nursing was more than a profession to her—it was a calling. She touched many lives through her kindness and steady presence. But of all the titles she held, her favorite was “Granny.” She worshiped her grandchildren and found her greatest joy in being part of their lives. Whether it was attending their events, sharing stories, offering advice, or simply sitting together, she treasured every moment. Her love for them was constant, proud, and unconditional. She was deeply rooted in her faith. She faithfully attended church and began each morning reading her Bible, drawing strength and peace from God’s Word. Her life reflected her beliefs—quiet strength, unwavering love, and a servant’s heart. She lived her faith daily, not just in words but in actions. She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Woodrow and Jettie Mae Stokes, and her beloved grandson, Patrick Walters. She leaves behind her loving husband, Norman Walters; her daughter, Stephanie Schmitt (Chris); her granddaughter, Alex Wilkerson (Peyton); her great-granddaughter, Hadley Wilkerson; her brother, Woody Stokes; her stepchildren, Rick Walters (Janet), Lisa Morad, and Randy Walters; her step-grandchildren, Chris, Stephanie, Matthew, Douglas, and Brittany; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly. Her legacy of faith, compassion, and unconditional love will live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, Mississippi, officiated by Reverend Abraham McKenzie. Interment will follow at Myrick Cemetery. Her pallbearers include Peyton Wilkerson, Billy Malone, Wesley Moore, Katlin Moore, Matthew Schmitt, and Douglas Schmitt.
