Shane Christian Kelley

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Shane Christian Kelley after a long battle with multiple health issues. He was born on November 19, 1974, in Cordele, Georgia, and passed from this life on Monday, October 27, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John K. Kelley, Jr., and Mrs. Mary W. Kelley. He is survived by Kitty Stover; his sisters, Karen (Murphy) Mullins; Jan (John) Hutto; Sheila (Charles) Martin; his brothers, Danny (Pam) Bolivar and Gerard (Cynthia) Bourgeois; two nephews with whom he shared a close bond, Jesse (Alyssa) Gass and Austin (Kimberly) Mullins; close friend, Grant (Hope) Staples; and a host of other family and friends. Shane graduated from Northeast Jones High School, and went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in music composition at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He was a talented musician, teacher, and mentor. His contributions to the local music scene included performing with various bands, and helping other artists compose, record, and promote their work. His love for people and music was evident by the smile he had when performing. He touched the lives of so many people through his music, teaching, and friendships with people all over. He will be missed, and he would want his students and friends to carry on and keep making good noise! To honor Shane, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Life Church in Laurel, MS, located on 5021 US Highway 84, Laurel, MS 39443. Reverend Ken Stover will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation (or as Shane called the tip jar at his shows-“the love offering”) at the service so that a scholarship can be established to benefit local students pursuing a degree in music. If you cannot attend and would like to make a donation for the scholarship fund, an announcement will be made later on how to donate. We hope to keep the scholarship funded every year to honor his memory, and we hope that you will consider supporting the scholarship for years to come.
