Terry Marcalene "Marcie" Young

Terry Marcalene “Marcie” Young passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 2:50 p.m. at the age 62. She was born on June 22, 1948 in Marion, NC and moved with her family to Mississippi in 1964. A member of the Methodist faith, Marcie was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, sister and a loving friend. She fought cancer for several years at M.D. Anderson in Houston. She was employed at Turner Supply in Laurel as Branch Manager and previously worked for Komp Equipment in Hattiesburg for 18 years. Marcie was an active member of DAFS, Domestic Abuse Family Shelter, in Laurel and a charter member of Soroptimist International, an organization for the advancement for the rights of women all over the world. She loved animals and was an advocate for animal’s right and a supporter of the Humane Society. She is predeceased by her father, Jerry Robert Browning, of Columbus, MS; grandparents, Ernest and Ellen Browning and Alvin and Dora Revis, of Marion, N.C. Survivors include: husband, John Young of Laurel; mother, Polly Browning of Columbus; son, Thomas M. “Trip” Jeffries of Boston, MA; sisters, Deedee Hurt of Long Beach and Fudgie and Bernie Parker all of Long Beach; step-son, Jeff and Laurie Young of New Orleans, LA and Lee Young of Ocean Springs, MS; brothers-in-law, Paul and Karen Young of Oxford, KS and David and Carolyn Young of Mulvane, KS; grandchildren, Brandon and Paige Young of Denham Springs, LA; Mallory Young and Griffin Young of New Orleans, LA. Also mourning are nieces and nephews: Shannon Parker of Long Beach, MS; Brandon and Amber Parker with sons Justus and Judah of Pass Christian, MS; John David and Rachel Hurt of Columbus, MS; Christopher Hurt of Los Angeles, CA; Dan and Justina Metz with daughter’s Lynsey and Kelsey of Oxford, MS; Ethan and Hanna Young of Mulvane, K.S. A memorial visitation will be held at Memory Chapel, 3100 Audubon Drive, Laurel, MS from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, November 24, 2010. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 26, 2010 at Crestlawn Memorial Park, 4111 Bienville Boulevard, Ocean Springs, MS at 1 p.m. officiated by Pastor Dale Hunter of New Orleans, LA. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the following organizations: American Cancer Society, Pink Heart Fund or Canon Hospice.
